Tuesday, October 7th, 2008The game of roulette has really gained in popularity and it is so popular that every casino has plenty of roulette wheels waiting for you to play. You may think roulette looks like a lot of fun and you have probably seen other players have big wins. However, if you have never played roulette you may feel anxious about playing the game without any knowledge of how it works. Luckily, you only need to know the basic rules to get started and the rest you can learn as you play. The good news is that roulette is easy to learn how to play and there are no complicated rules to remember.
Roulette Rules
At the table there may be up to eight players, unless you are playing online! The house plays against every player and the dealer takes this role. He is also known as the croupier. The dealer spins the will and deals with the bets and payouts. Keep in mind where you play has an impact on what numbers you may bet on. In the United States, there are 38 slots representing numbers 00 and 0 through 36 and in Europe there are 37 slots representing 0 through 36.
To play you will need to buy some chips. The chips you buy will almost always be a different color than the other players. This is so that the chips can easily be identified by each player. The bets are either placed on the outside of the table or directly on the numbers you want to bet on. Once the bets have been placed the dealer will call last bet and then no more bets. He will spin the wheel and then the ball will land on the winning number. A dolly will be placed on the number and the payouts will be dealt with. At this time new bets may be placed for the next spin.
The point of roulette is actually quite easy. You are trying to predict where the ball where land on the next spin and that is how you place your bet. Obviously, with so many different numbers for the ball to land on predicting the right number is a big challenge. And it is because of that that roulette is so popular and so much fun. There are many different strategies that roulette players use to try to win, however when it comes down to it luck is all that matters when you play roulette.
